Victoria Cross project

As you may know, the Victoria Cross is the highest military award for valour presented in the UK, for acts of extreme bravery and heroism.

Since 2004, I have been involved in ensuring that Nottingham’s Victoria Cross heroes get the recognition that they deserve – as many Victoria Cross holders aren’t known to the public and have no lasting monument to their memory.

The campaign to commemorate ‘John Caffrey V.C.’ Wilford Hill Cemetery
Nottingham launched by his great nephew Sean Westerby and Ron Booth. This was the first Headstone in May 2007, and through my efforts resulted in the forming of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Victoria Cross Committee, with the aim of erecting a permanent memorial to the county’s Victoria Cross holders.
