Ron Booth

As an amateur writer and historian plus a campaigner and volunteer, I am involved in all kinds of projects which I hope you will find interesting.

For example, I write for the Nottingham Evening Post voluntarily, contributing regularly to their Bygones publication. I also give talks in schools and to various community organisations, helping to bring history to life through my experiences of growing up in Nottingham, during World War II, and working in the mining industry.

In addition, my research often results in me getting involved in some very exciting and unique projects. For instance, I’ve spearheaded the campaign to win recognition for Nottinghamshire’s Victoria Cross heroes. You can read all about this in the Victoria Cross section of the website.

I hope you enjoy reading more about me and my work and please feel free to get in touch if I can be of assistance.

The picture above shows me (second left) with my wife and the Deputy Mayor of Nottingham and his Lady, receiving two BIG10 awards for my voluntary work. The BIG10 Awards are designed to recognise the contribution of volunteers and local people to life in Nottingham so as you can imagine I was very pleased and proud to win two!!!
